Vessel Familiarization Program

for newly employed officers

The familiarization program for newly employed officers aims at welcoming our new colleagues as well as their smoother induction into the organization by providing a structured familiarization plan. This programme is geared to prepare newly employed officers for assumption of responsibility in the rank employed.

The officers are met by various department heads and briefed on our vision, cultures and values. The shore organization structure as well as department functions are discussed by the department heads.

All officers undergo a structured familiarization on board ranging from one week to two months to understand the systems and operation of the vessels before taking over functions independently.

Practical Onboard Training

for all officers

In order that the offices are equipped to discharge his duties in a competent manner, particular emphasis is placed on the practical aspects, including a clear understanding of the role on board vessels.

The Training of Personnel on Ships (TOPS) is a rank-specific program that has been initiated to provide a structured career progression plan to all officers whereby the officers prepare themselves to take up positions of a higher capacities and responsibilities.

The Fleet Quality Mangers (FQMs) travel on the Company's vessels and carry out Shipboard Enhanced Safety Training Program with the task of providing an informed and expert training platform for Masters and crews. The program covers practical exercises and lecture sessions on Health, Safety, Environmental Protection Policies, Accident Prevention, Emergency Response and Risk Management.

New Building Vessel Training

for new building teams

The officers taking over deliveries of our new building vessels attend a set of training courses on board similar vessels, various training facilities round the world as well as at the yard. These vessel-specific training courses are drafted keeping in mind the latest technological advancements in the maritime industry and aim at efficient and smooth take over of the vessels by our seafarers.

Shore based Skill Training

for all officers

Each officer is equipped through a carefully planned set of courses onboard and ashore balanced by hands-on practical training, as they progress from a junior officer to senior management roles and responsibilities. The training is aimed at raising the professional, management and technical skills of its sea staff within the framework of Statutory, Company and Charterer's requirements as well as developing the staff to meet the challenges, demands of the evolving maritime industry.

The Maersk Training Centre India located in Chennai provides numerous shore - based training programs for our officers structured at offering a range of technical and management training to enhance the operational aptitude of the participants and improve the safety and efficiency on board the vessels.
