Fleet Safety Management
Safety is the very basis of shipping and other industrial activities. At A.P. Moller Singapore, we regard safety and environmental protection with the same high priority as we do our commercial and operational matters because without safety our commercial and operational success would not be possible.
We are committed to conducting our activities in a manner that protects the health and safety of all personnel working under our direction, including contractors working at our facilities, and we seek to continuously reduce and mitigate health and safety risks at work. Our actions at all times are based on the following principles
-
All accidents and injuries are preventable.
-
Each employee has as their prime responsibility the obligation at all times to protect themselves, their colleagues, the vessel and its equipment, and the cargoes.
-
No business objective is so critical that it will be pursued at the sacrifice of safety.
-
A job is well done only if it is done safely.
-
Establish safeguards against all identified risks
-
Commitment to the prevention of pollution

Security
In close co-operation with international and local authorities, we endeavour to take all precautions necessary to maintain at all times high security standards and security awareness within our organization, at onshore and offshore facilities and on-board our vessels.
It is our policy to seek to protect the group and its employees from illegal acts with respect to security and to show constant care to prevent breaches of security associated with our operations

Shipboard Audits & Inspections
With the help of our Fleet Quality Managers, we ensure safe operations onboard our vessels by carrying out safety and ISM audits. Subsequently, we ensure that all identified defects & non-conformances are tracked to closure.
We also liaise with the Flag State and Port State Controls for inspections and audits of our vessel procedures.

Risk Management
We have an elaborate risk management plan in place on board our vessels. New risks are constantly being identified and mitigated. As a result, we strive to reduce risks through the highest standard of well-maintained ships and the most professional employees.
We utilize rigorous training and frequent realistic drills to be certain that we continuously raise the standard and improve the safety record throughout the Company. This is especially required at sea, where the marine environment places exacting and severe demands on people and equipment. The ocean is unforgiving of lapses in judgment and tolerances are narrow, and putting safety aside even for a moment could result in a tragic accident.

Quality Management
At A.P. Moller Singapore the success of our quality efforts is critically dependent on the personal involvement of all employees in the Quality Process. Constant awareness of our customers’ requirements, the customers’ perception of our performance and the ongoing identification of areas for improvement are vital to attaining and sustaining a robust Quality Process.
We have established a Global Ship Management System (GSMS) covering Safety, Quality, Health, Environment and security to ensure safe and efficient operations of our vessels. Through the GSMS we implement internal and external standards and demonstrate compliance with a transparency required by our customers and the authorities.
The management of quality issues is an integral part of our management system. The system, and its related documents, are dynamic and will evolve as we move forward, making continuous improvements to our procedures and processes.

Environmental Management
A.P. Moller Singapore is highly committed to the protection of the environment. The entire Group - both management and employees, both ashore and at sea, constantly monitor operations to ensure that we live up to our policy of minimizing our impact on the oceans. To do this, we strictly adhere to regulations and industry codes and, where no code exists, we support and conduct research to improve environmental performance.
Our crew consists of people who make their living from the sea, and who therefore, have a vested interest in protecting the ocean environment. It is, after all, the platform on which our vessels operate. Therefore, an integral part of our philosophy - and business policy - is that we will protect the oceans and shorelines.
Our Environmental Management System (EMS) onboard all A.P. Moller Singapore vessels is certified in accordance with the ISO 14001:2004 standards The EMS is a continual cycle of planning, implementing, reviewing and improving the processes and actions that an organization undertakes to meet its environmental obligations.
